Wheat Kings Clip Winterhawks

Wheat Kings Hang on to Clip Edge the Portland Winterhawks

The Brandon Wheat Kings hosted the Portland Winterhawks for the first time in four years and it was a nail-biter. Nate Danielson scored his 19th of the season and added two helpers as the Wheat Kings edged the Winterhawks 3-2. It was Brandon's 4th win in their last 5 games.

Quinn Mantie's first goal of the season proved to be the game-winner for the black and gold. Brett Hyland had the other tally for Brandon. Carson Bjarnason was stellar between the pipes stopping 34 of 36 shots to earn his 14th win of the campaign against 11 losses. Jack O'Brien and James Stefan each had a goal and an assist for Portland.

With the win, the Wheat Kings are now just 2 points back of Regina for 4th in the East Division. The Pats were shut out 6-0 at home by the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The Wheat Kings won't have much time to savour this win as they hopped on the bus shortly after the game and headed to Prince Albert to get ready for a tilt with the Raiders tomorrow night. (7:00 p.m. at the Art Houser Center). Listen to Q Country 91.5 for live play-by-play action.
