Two Teens Face Weapons Related Charges After Police Find Sawed Off Shotgun


Unauthorized Possession of Firearm et al

 

On March 2, 2023, at approximately 10:00 pm, police were patrolling in the 500 block of Louise Avenue when they observed two males run across the street and discard items underneath a parked car. 

 

The officer recognized one of the males and was aware that he was on a Release Order with a curfew.  As a result, the officer arrested the 18-year-old male for Failing to comply with a Release Order. 

 

During a search of the male, incidental to his arrest, police located a shotgun shell in his front pocket.  The male then attempted to run from police; however, he was already in handcuffs and not very stealthy. 

 

When police checked under the parked car they located a sawed off shotgun. Both males were then arrested for numerous firearm offences. The two males were lodged at the Brandon Police Service and they are scheduled to appear in court today.

 

The 18-year-old male from Brandon is charged with the following offences:

  • Careless transportation of a firearm

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose 

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

  • Possession of a Firearm knowing it is Unauthorized 

  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammo

  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order 

  • Possession of Firearm knowing the Serial # has been tampered

  • Resist Arrest

  • Fail to comply with a Release Order x 4

The 15-year-old male from Brandon is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose 

  • Careless transportation of a firearm

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

  • Possession of a Firearm knowing it is Unauthorized

  • Possession of a Firearm knowing the Serial # has been tampered

 


 

 

Mischief to Property and Theft under $5,000

On March 2, 2023, police received a report of an intoxicated female causing a disturbance and damaging property at a business in the 400 block of Rosser Avenue.  The female entered the business and damaged an interior door with a chair.  She then left the business and got into a random vehicle that was occupied and stole the male’s phone.  The female then ran across the street to another business and threw the phone to another random person. The phone was recovered and returned to the owner. 

Police located the 25-year-old female in the area and arrested her for Mischief to Property and Theft under $5,000.  The female was extremely impaired by drug.  As a result, she was lodged at the Brandon Police Service until sober.  She will be released on an Appearance Notice and she is scheduled to appear in court in April. 

  


 

Break Enter and Theft et al.

On March 2, 2023, police received a report of a male breaking into a laundry room and trying to steal the money from the coin operated machines at a hotel in the 1500 block of Highland Avenue.  Members attended and located the 34-year-old male suspect still on scene.  He was arrested for Break Enter and Theft, Mischief to Property and Breach of Probation.  He was also found to be wanted on outstanding charges of Theft under $5,000 and Mischief to Property.  He was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and he is scheduled to appear in court today.   

 


 

Breach of Peace

On March 2, 2023, police received a report of a male wandering through yards on Marquis Crescent.  Members attended and located a 30-year-old male who was clearly there for a nefarious purpose.  He was arrested for Breach of the Peace to prevent any further issues.

On March 3, 2023, police received a report of a highly intoxicated male walking around an apartment building and trying to get into the apartments in the 300 block of 4th Street.  Members attended and located the intoxicated 21-year-old male still wandering the hallways.  He was arrested for Breach of the Peace and lodged at the Brandon Police Service to prevent any further issues.

 


 

Arrest Warrants

On March 2, 2023, police attended a residence in the 800 block of Frederick Street and arrested a 12-year-old female who was wanted on an outstanding charge of Fail to Appear in Court.  She was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and she is scheduled to appear in court today.

 

On March 2, 2023, police attended a residence in the 200 block of 4th Street for a disturbance.  One of the occupants in the residence was found to be wanted on outstanding charges of Public Mischief x3.  As a result, she was arrested and later released on an Appearance Notice.  She is scheduled to appear in court in April.

 

On March 2, 2023, police conducted a person check on a 35-year-old male in the 1000 block of College Avenue.  The male was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Appear in Court, Fail to Comply with a Probation Order, Theft under $5,000 x4, and Fraud.  He was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Police Service.  He will appear in court today.

 

On March 2, 2023, police attended a residence in the 1200 block of 10th Street and arrested a 33-year-old female on an outstanding charge of Fail to comply with a Probation Order.  She was later released on an Appearance Notice and she is scheduled to appear in court in April.

 

On March 3, 2023, a 31-year-old male attended BPS to turn himself in on an outstanding warrant for Fail to comply with a Probation Order.  He was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and he will appear in court today.
