Winnipeg rockers The Bloodshots have been on the scene for the better part of the past 10+ years. As each year passes things seem to get better and better for this 4 piece outfit who are usually described as grunge/punk rockers. However, with their new single “Empty” now available on Spotify and in rotation on The Spark www.sparkwebradio.com The Bloodshots seemed to have turned the corner from grunge/garage rockers towards the main street somewhere uptown.
Over the years their sound has taken a few twists and turns on their musical journey. Along the way, they’ve been fortunate enough to experience many highlights starting in 2016 when they won a BIG radio contest and were chosen to open for Finger Eleven on their tour. From there on they would get several opportunities to play alongside acts like SLASH, Buckcherry, Danko Jones, Moist, Econoline Crush, Monster Truck, Steel Panther Bif Naked and more!
Their momentum hit another gear in the first quarter of 2018 when they were nominated for Best Rock Album at the Indigenous Music Awards for Best Rock Album. They would also tour beyond Manitoba’s borders and go back and forth across the country in support of that album.
The band’s momentum hit high speed when they signed with Australian Music Label Golden Robot Records in February of 2020. The famed label home to artists such as Faster Pussycat, Riley’s L.A. Guns, Stephen Pearcy, Gilby Clarke, Rose Tattoo and many others is based in Sydney but has offices in Los Angeles, New York and Auckland. Soon after getting signed to the GRR label they went on to win “BEST ROCK VIDEO” at the 2022 Native American Music Awards for their video “No Way Out” (Check out the video posted below). The highlights kept on coming! In January 2024, they were asked to be part of an Indigenous Music Industry Night in Hollywood and they performed at the iconic Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip.
More recently The Bloodshots opened for long-time Winnipeg rockers The New Meanies at the Pyramid Cafe last Saturday (December 28). As their concert calendar continues to fill up for 2025 we’re pleased to announce the latest episode of Manitoba Music Makers featuring… you guessed it, The Bloodshots!
