Party to the Offence of Armed Robbery
On January 31st, 2023 at 6:09 a.m. police received a report from a Taxi driver that his taxi was stolen by two males and one female while in the area of 1st St. and Brock Ave. The suspects had threatened the driver with a knife, and stole his phone and money.
At 6:27 a.m. a second report was received that a red Pontiac Montana was stolen from a residence in the 1100 block of 8th street, while left outside running. The taxi was also recovered in the 1100 block of 8th Street.
At 6:41 am members of Patrol and Canine located the stolen Pontiac Montana unoccupied in the 900blk alley between 9th and 10th Street. A Canine track was initiated from the abandoned van leading to a residence in the 1000 block of 9th Street. While at this location, a female suspect exited the residence and was identified as being involved in the robbery. She was subsequently taken into custody.
A further investigation by the BPS Major Crimes Section resulted in a search warrant to this residence leading to the recovering of the stolen cell phone.
The 25-year-old female was lodged at BPS and will appear February 1st, 2023 for the following charges: Party to the Offence of Armed Robbery, Forcible Confinement, Uttering Threats, and Theft of Motor Vehicle.
Failure to Comply with Release Order
While members were executing the above search warrant a male was found within the residence and in possession of a small amount of Cocaine and Crystal Meth. The same male is bound by a court order not to possess any illegal drugs. The 39 year old male was arrested and released on conditions to appear in court April 13th, 2023 for the charges of Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Crystal Meth and Failure to Comply with Release Order.
Warrant
On January 31st, 2023 police attended to a residence on Cornell Bay to arrest a female wanted on an outstanding warrant. The 18 year old female was lodged at BPS to appear in court February 1st, 2023 for the charge of Failure to Attend Court.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
On January 31st, 2023 BPS received notification from the RCMP that they had recovered a Buick LeSabre near Virden. The vehicle had been previously stolen on January 31st from a residence on Fraser Crescent. The matter is still under investigation by police.
Breach of Peace
On January 31st, 2023 police attended to a disturbance at a residence on Aster Crescent. As a result of the police investigation, a 29 year old male was lodged at BPS until morning to prevent a continuation of safety concerns.
Weapon
On January 31st, 2023 police conducted a pedestrian stop with a known male in the 700 block of Louise Avenue. A check of police records showed the subject to have an outstanding warrant of arrest for Failure to Attend for Identification. A search incident to arrest resulted in the seizure of a concealed machete. A 25 year old male was arrested and released with conditions to appear in court March 23rd, 2023 for the charges of FTA Identification and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
Breach of Peace
On January 31st, 2023 police attended to a residence in the 700 block of 9th Street after receiving a report of an intoxicated and suicidal male causing a disturbance. As a result, a 55 year old male was taken into custody and lodged at BPS. Once sober, the male will be provided with access to mental health services.
Warrant
On January 31st, 2023 police attended to a residence in the 1000 block of Rosser Avenue for a child welfare check. Upon attending, the caregiver was found have a warrant for her arrest. A 29 year old female was arrested and lodged at BPS to appear February 2nd, 2023 for the charges of Theft Under $5000 and Failure to Attend Court X3.
