Suspect Faces Charges Following Violent Incidents at Two Local Businesses

Mischief to Property and Assault

 

On January 24, 2023, at approximately 6:30 am, police received a report of a male causing a disturbance and damaging property at a business in the 2800 block of Victoria Avenue. 

 

The male was throwing chairs in the business and had struck a windshield on a vehicle in the parking lot.  The 49-year-old male suspect was located in the area and arrested for Mischief to Property under $5,000. He was later released and was scheduled to appear in court in March.

 

However, at approximately 8:00 pm, police received a second report of the same male causing a disturbance at a business in the 1500 block of Highland Avenue. The male had entered the business and demanded free coffee. When staff asked the male to leave the premises, he punched the employee in the face multiple times and then fled from the scene. 

 

The 49-year-old male suspect was later located in the area and arrested for Assault. This time he was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and is scheduled to appear in court today.         

 


 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

On January 24, 2023, police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in the Sportsplex parking lot. 

Upon arrival, police located a 2017 GMC Sierra that had been reported stolen from Winnipeg.  The vehicle was towed to Brandon Police Service for further investigation.

Assault and Mischief

On January 17, 2023, police received a report of an assault at an apartment complex in the 200 block of 9th Street.  A 20-year-old female had struck a male in the head numerous times and caused damage to his cellular phone.  The female left the area prior to police arrival. 

 

On January 24, 2023, police were able to contact the suspect and she attended the Brandon Police Service to turn herself in.  She was arrested for Assault and Mischief to Property under $5,000.  She was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in March.

 


 

 

Theft under $5,000 x3

Between January 13 and 15, 2023, police received multiple reports of thefts from businesses in the 900 block of 18th Street North. 

On all three occasions, the 37-year-old male suspect placed several items in a shopping cart and left the stores without paying for the merchandise.  Police were able to identify the suspect through video surveillance. 

 

On January 24, 2023, police attended the Brandon Correctional Center (BCC) and arrested the 37-year-old male for Theft under $5,000 x3.  He was held in custody at BCC and is scheduled to appear in court today. 

 


 

Fail to Comply with an Undertaking

On January 25, 2023, at approximately 2:00am police conducted a person check on a 25-year-old male in the 500 block back lane between 12th and 13th Street.  The male was found to be on an Undertaking with a 9:00pm curfew.  He was arrested for Failing to Comply with an Undertaking.  He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in March.

 


 

 

Breach of Peace

On January 24, 2023, police received a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 200 block of 8th Street.  A 39-year-old male was found to be causing the problems.  As a result, he was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service to prevent any further issues. 

 


 

Arrest Warrants

On January 24, 2023, police located and arrested a 17-year-old female who was wanted on an outstanding charge of Fail to Appear for Fingerprints.  She was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in March.

 

On January 24, 2023, police located and arrested a 25-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Appear in Court, Fail to Appear for Fingerprints, and Breach of a Release Order.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and is scheduled to appear in court today.
