Sundance Spas and Jacuzzi Hot Tubs Recalled Due to Burn Hazard

Consumer product recall issued for over 23,000 Hot tubs and spas

 

If you've recently purchased a Sundance Spa or Jacuzzi Hot Tub you may want to use an accurate external thermometer to confirm the water temperature prior to entering the hot tub and should contact an authorized dealer to schedule a free repair.

According to the Government of Canada's recall and safety alerts page, the affected products involves Jacuzzi® J-200™, J-300™, J-400™ and J-500™ Collection hot tubs and Sundance® Spas 680™, 780™, 880™ and 980™ Series spas manufactured between July 29, 2021, and February 9, 2022. The model number and serial number are engraved into a silver plate in the equipment bay of the hot tub. The Subject Products were sold through dealers.

 

Issue

 

The temperature sensor can relay incorrect water temperatures and cause the water to be hotter than the set temperature, posing injury (heat stroke) and thermal burn hazards.

 

As of December 9, 2022, the company has received 185 reports of inaccurate temperature readings, 26 of which were in Canada. The company has received no reports of injuries.

 

What you should do

 

Consumers should use an accurate external thermometer to confirm the water temperature prior to entering the hot tub until the hot tub is confirmed not to have the affected temperature sensor. For hot tubs with the affected temperature sensor, consumers should contact an authorized dealer to schedule a free repair to replace the sensor.
