Police Find Weapons During Interaction with Pedestrians Near Daly House Bridge

Possession of a Weapon

On November 24th, 2022 at 1:20 a.m., police conducted a pedestrian stop with a group of pedestrians in the zero hundred block of 18th Street.  During the interaction, police noted a machete handle in plain view protruding from the backpack of one of the subjects. 

A check of police records discovered the 33-year-old male was bound by an Undertaking not to possess any weapons.  A search incident to arrest further resulted in the seizure of the machete, two replica handguns, a folding knife, and two bank cards belonging to individuals who reported the cards stolen. 

The male suspect was lodged at BPS for court on November 24th, 2022 to answer the charges of Fail to Comply with Undertaking X4, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous X4, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime X2.

 

Breach of Undertaking

On November 24th, 2022 at 1:20 a.m., police conducted a pedestrian stop with a group of pedestrians in the zero hundred block of 18th Street.  A check of police records on one of the subjects, a 36-year-old female, discovered she was in breach of several court-imposed conditions.  The female suspect was subsequently arrested and lodged at BPS to appear on November 24th, 2022 for the charges of Breach of Undertaking X3.

 

Intoxicated Person

On the morning of November 23rd, 2022, police responded to a disturbance in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue shortly after 4:30 pm.  An occupant at this location was found to be intoxicated and unwilling to cooperate with staff.  A 36 year old female was arrested and lodged until sober at Brandon Police Service.

Warrant

On the morning of November 23rd, 2022, police attended to a residence in the 200 block of 9th Street after receiving information from Parole Services about a resident at this location having a warrant.  As a result, a 42 year old female was located and arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant and is back in the custody of Correctional Services.

Warrant

On the morning of November 23rd, 2022, Brandon Police Service was notified by the RCMP they had located and arrested a 32 year old male in Long Plains First Nation.  The subject was found to have two outstanding warrants held by BPS and is being held in custody to appear in court in Portage la Prairie on November 24th, 2022.

Breach of Undertaking

On the afternoon of November 23rd, 2022, police received a complaint from a resident on Centennial Blvd that a male known to them had attended the residence contrary to provisions of a court order.   The 41 year old suspect was located by police nearby and arrested.  The subject is to appear in court January 19th, 2023 for the charge of Breach of Undertaking.  

Obstruct Police/Resist Arrest

On November 23rd, 2022, police received a witness report of a vehicle being involved in a hit and run.  The suspect vehicle was parked in the 300 block of Percy Street.  Upon police approaching, the registered owner of the damaged vehicle, the 59 year old male, became argumentative with the officer.  While attempting to issue a Provincial Offence Notice, the subject refused to cooperate.  As a result, the officer advised the male of his arrest, and upon doing so, the subject failed to comply with verbal instructions made by the officer.  Upon pulling away from the officer, a brief struggle ensued and the male was taken placed into custody.  The accused is to appear before the court on December 19th, 2022 for the charge of Resist/Obstruct Police Officer.

Breach of Peace

On November 24, 2022, police responded to a disturbance at a motel in the 300 block of 18th Street North.  Upon attendance, a 17 year old female was seen fighting with the registered guest to the room.  The female was subsequently lodged breach of peace at BPS until a responsible family member could attend and take custody of her.
