Whispers in the Wheat is Renamed For Its Tubi Release

The crime thriller was made in Manitoba. It was shot in 2020 at various locations around the Brandon area and on a farm in MacGregor. Directed by Brandonite Alec Chambers, the film follows a young man's journey and mission to complete a heist his father started many years prior.

In December of 2022, the movie had its world premiere at Evan's Theatre in Brandon. Now it's available worldwide on the internet via the streaming platform Tubi. According to those in the know, the distributors (Syndicado) thought the original title of the film made it sound like a Hallmark movie and wanted to give it more of a stark title to evoke its dark content.

If you have the Tubi app you can find this made in Manitoba movie under the name Farm Hand. The Tubi treatment gives this film a darker edgier look. The rebranding is a stark contrast compared to its original release. Check out the movie listings and trailers below.

Fans of movies shot locally will be excited to know that some people who worked on "Whispers" are currently involved with yet another production (Homesick) that is due to be released this winter. Homesick was also shot mainly in Manitoba (Brandon, Carberry, Clear Lake, and Elphinstone).

Watch for the press release for Homesick to be featured in Westman Zone in the near future.
