Manitoba RCMP Release Shocking Highway Fatality Stats


Manitoba #rcmpmb officers responded to 3 separate motor vehicle collisions that occurred in the Dauphin, Portage and Steinbach areas that claimed the lives of 3 Manitobans on the same day.

On September 1, 2022, at approximately 2:50 pm, Dauphin RCMP responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Road 109 W, located one kilometre north of Highway 5.

A pickup truck was travelling northbound on Road 109 W when it lost control, entered the ditch and rolled.

The 69-year-old male driver, from the RM of Dauphin, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected and pronounced deceased on the scene.

Later that evening, at approximately 9:50 pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 1, located one kilometre east of the Assiniboine River bridge.

Officers believe a pickup truck was travelling eastbound on Highway 1 when it entered the ditch and rolled. The 32-year-old male driver, from Winnipeg, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected and pronounced deceased on the scene.

A short time later, at approximately 11:15 pm, officers from Steinbach RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 52 and Road 32 E (Bristol Road), located two kilometres west of Steinbach.

The investigation has determined that a southbound vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a westbound vehicle.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 37-year-old female from Mitchell, was pronounced deceased on the scene. A passenger in the westbound vehicle was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

RCMP along with our Forensic Collision Reconstructionists continue to investigate.

Thus far in 2022, 58 people have died on MB roads including 6 within the past week.
