Possession of Weapons charges and failing to comply
At 2:23 pm, police received a report of a man in the 700’ block of College Ave with a knife. The caller indicated the man was on a bike and appeared to be chasing someone.
Police located the 19-year-old suspect in the 900’ block of College Ave. When police exited the vehicle the suspect attempted to pull a machete from his waistband. At that time the officer drew their firearm and ordered him to the ground. The male complied and was taken into custody without any injury to the suspect or the officer.
A search incidental to his arrest found a machete, brass knuckles, and a hammer concealed on his person. He was held in custody for court in the morning.
Arrest Warrant Executed
Brandon Police Received a request from the RCMP to attend BCC and execute one of their warrants on an inmate. A 29-year-old man was arrested on a warrant for assaulting a peace officer, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and failing to comply with a release order. He remains in custody to appear in court in the morning.
Arrest Warrant Executed
At 3:40 pm, police attended to a residence on Wankling Blvd and arrested a 48-year-old man on the strength of a warrant. The warrant was for possessing property obtained by crime x4, possession of controlled substance, unauthorized possession of a firearm, failure to comply with release order, and removing a vehicle identification number. He was later released for court on November 28, 2022.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
At 4:28 pm, police recovered a stolen GMC Sierra that was abandoned near 19th Street N and McDonald Ave. The vehicle had been stolen out of Dauphin. This incident is still under investigation.
Intoxicated Persons Detention Act
At 8:03 pm, police received a report of a female dancing in the middle of the intersection at 10th Street and Victoria Ave. The 37-year-old female was found highly intoxicated. She was lodged at BPS for her safety to be released once sober.
Breach of Peace
At 9:38 pm, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 800’ block of Frederick Street. A 16-year-old female was found to be intoxicated and causing problems. She was arrested and lodged at BPS to be released once sober.
Arrest Warrant Executed
At 11:32 pm, police were called to a business in the 200’ block of 18th Street North for a male who was passed out and refusing to leave. A 40-year-old man was found to have a warrant of arrest from the Virden RCMP for failing to comply with probation. He was arrested and held for court in the morning.
Breach of Peace
On October 4th, at 12:14 am, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 100’ block of 13th Street. Three subjects were found to be intoxicated and causing problems in the residence. Two 18-year-old males and one 22-year-old male were arrested for breach of the peace and lodged at BPS to be released once sober.
