Transgender Indie Artist Anastasia Jane Releases Third Album in Her Autobiographical Trilogy

BRANDON, MB — Anastasia Jane, a Brandon-based independent musical artist, will be releasing her third independent album on December 27th.

"Hello friends and welcome to the program. Let’s face it folks, the world is going to hell in a handbasket”. This is how the title track of Anastasia’s third album Swimming to Oz begins. This album promises to be a roller coaster ride, overflowing with kaleidoscopes, rainbows, and sharp detours. Autobiographical in nature, this album chronicles the artist’s life post-transition and subject matter involves intimacy ("Tell Me"), surreal life experiences (Swimming to Oz), finding and marrying the love of her life ("Auburn"), surviving her cancer diagnosis and treatment ("I want to stay") advocating for queer and trans youth ("Rainbow"), loss (“I Miss You”, “Prepare to Fly”) and having fun in life (“Grease the Groove”), among other themes. All songs were written, performed and produced by Anastasia Jane and the album was mastered by Allen Hunnie.

The first “single” from the album, called "Tell Me", will be featured as Song of the Week by Manitoba Music at the time of the album’s release. Its accompanying video can be seen on her YouTube “Anastasia Jane” channel and through her website at www.anastasiajane.com. Swimming to Oz can be purchased on BandCamp or streamed through Spotify, Amazon Music or other major streaming platforms. Physical copies of her CDs can be purchased at her album release party at Chez Angela Bakery and Café on January 3rd, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Sexuality Education and Resource Centre.
