Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:
A period of very cold wind chills is expected.
As skies clear this morning, extremely cold wind chill values of minus 40 are expected.
A period of extreme cold values will continue through the week during the overnight and early morning periods.
Temperatures are expected to return to seasonal by the weekend.
Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.
Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.
Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill create an elevated risk to health such as frostbite and hypothermia.
