Impaired Driving
At approx. 1:35 Saturday afternoon police were called to the 800 block of Frederick St for a motor vehicle collision. The caller indicated they heard a loud bang and looked outside to see a vehicle had gone through a fence and hit a tree.
There were several other witnesses to the collision who identified the driver of the vehicle to responding officers. Those officers immediately noted a strong odour of alcohol on the breath of the 25-year-old male driver. That and other obvious signs of impairment caused the officers to arrest the man for impaired driving.
The male was transported to the Brandon Police Service where he provided samples of his breath which resulted in readings of approx. 4 times the legal limit. The male was held until family members could be located to turn him over. He will appear in court on Dec 19 charged with impaired driving and driving over .08.
Theft of Vehicle
At 8:25 PM Saturday police received a call of the theft of a grey 2008 Chev Uplander with Manitoba license KRA 212. The vehicle had been left running in a driveway in the 2100 block of McDonald when it was stolen. The matter is still under investigation.
Theft of Vehicle
At 8:30 AM Saturday, police received a report of the theft of a 2023 white Kia Forte from the 900 block of 7th St. The vehicle barring Manitoba license D57942 had been started in front of a residence. The driver went to put something into the house and turned around to see it driving away.
Arrest Warrant Executed
At approx. 9:15 AM Saturday, an officer conducted a pedestrian check on a female he observed walking in the 500 block of 10th St. The officer was familiar with the 21-year-old local female from previous dealings and also knew there was an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The warrant for failing to comply with her probation order was confirmed and she was arrested. She has since been released and will appear in court on February 2nd.
Assault / Mischief
At 9:25 Saturday morning, officers were called to the 700 block of Rosser for a disturbance. Upon arrival, they located 2 security staff that were detaining a 31-year-old male that was intoxicated by a drug. The male had become physically combative with the security staff prior to police arrival. The callers were not interested in charges but wanted the male removed. The male was charged however with a previous assault from Dec 8 at the downtown office, where he assaulted one of his workers and damaged the office. He was held until sober and has since been released with a court date of Feb 6.
Arrest Warrant Executed
At 11:05 AM Saturday police were called to the 900 block of 8th St for a suspicious person. Upon arrival they located a 30 year old female who appeared to be high on meth. Further checks revealed an outstanding warrant for her arrest from the Rivers Police Service. She was arrested on the strength of the warrant and was held until sober at which time she was released with a Feb 2nd court date for the charge of mischief to property.
Break Enter and Theft
At 11:55 AM Saturday police were called t eh 400 block of McDiarmid Dr for a garage break in. The homeowner noticed his garage door open and found that a white with blue Giant Talon 5 bicycle had been stolen. The matter is still under investigation.
