HEAVY SNOWFALL IN BRANDON, CITY CREWS WORKING NON-STOP TO CLEAR THE STREETS
Brandon, MB – In response to the substantial snowfall over the weekend, the City of Brandon has mobilized all its snow-clearing equipment and staff for an all-out snow-clearing operation. With over 30 centimetres of snow accumulation in the past 24 hours, the Operations division is working around the clock, 24 hours a day to restore normalcy.
City crews are concentrating their efforts on clearing the critical P1A Route. Commencing at midnight last night, these dedicated crews started working until every city street is clear. Additional City staff from other sections have been reassigned to support the snow-clearing endeavors. Furthermore, the City of Brandon has reached out to multiple contractors to bolster snow removal efforts.
The City is also actively working on clearing snow from residential backlanes. Due to the substantial accumulation of snow, crews are loading and hauling snow out of the lanes, which may cause clearing efforts to take longer than usual. Backlanes are being cleared based on the Solid Waste collection schedule, ensuring that residential waste collection can continue smoothly.
The City extends its heartfelt appreciation to the public for their patience and cooperation during this winter storm. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and adhere to posted speed limits when navigating snowy or icy roads. Please be patient, we will get to your street as soon as possible. Please respect the snow removal crews' workspace and take an alternate route if possible.

City of Brandon's Snow Removal Strategy
Snowfall volume, snow density, humidity, temperature fluctuations, wind speed, and seasonal timing all influence our response to snow events. If a citywide plowing program is initiated, it kicks off immediately after a snow event.
In case of an emergency, snow plowing equipment will be diverted to assist police, fire or ambulance emergency vehicles as required. We also address driveway approaches, although this task may not be completed immediately after plowing.
Our snow plowing and removal follow a priority system:
Priority One "A" (P1A):
