B.U. Offers Students The Opportunity to Discover
The Power of Naps
Feel like you need a quick break? A new EnergyPod unveiled this week in the Brandon University library will offer a private space for napping on campus — helping restore energy and focus with a little shuteye.
The EnergyPod is jointly sponsored by the Brandon University Students’ Union, Fusion Credit Union, and BU Library Services. It is a zero-gravity positioned chair with a programmed sleep timer that also features specially composed sleep music to eliminate distractions and a gentle wake sequence to minimize grogginess.
Previously, EnergyPods have been implemented at Fusion Credit Union branches, along with massage chairs, as a result of an Innovation Den program that aims to enhance employee wellness and increase productivity.
Just a 20-minute nap can help with boosting learning, and memory consolidation, enhance alertness and improve creativity and mood. The EnergyPod at BU will be available for both staff and students.
At Thursday’s unveiling, ‘nap time’ snacks will be available, courtesy Bailey’s Café.
