Brandon Police Units Team Up To Recover Stolen Firearms

Stolen Firearms Recovered

On January 3, 2023, police attended a residence in the 3300 block of McDonald Ave in search of a 45-year-old male with outstanding charges.  While investigating that incident, police observed two firearms in the residence. The tenant was not authorized to possess the firearms. 

As a result, police seized the firearms and a 28-year-old male was arrested and charged for Unauthorized Possession of Firearms.

    

On January 4, 2023, Brandon Police Service received a report of a Break, Enter and Theft from a residence in the 2000 block of 26th Street. Six firearms were reported stolen from the residence.  During the investigation, police were able to confirm that the two firearms seized from McDonald Ave were stolen from the residence on 26th Street. 

 

On January 5, 2023, members of the Brandon Police Service Major Crime Unit and Patrol Division executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of 16th Street.  During the search warrant, police recovered the four remaining firearms that had been stolen from the Break and Enter on 26th Street.

 

As a result of the thorough investigation conducted by the Brandon Police Service Patrol Division, Forensic Identification Unit and the Major Crime Unit, police were able to successfully recover the six stolen firearms and prevent them from entering the streets of Brandon.   

 

A 29-year-old female and a 32-year-old male have been arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime x4, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x4, and Careless Storage of a Firearm x4. The female was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in March 2023. The male was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today. Additional charges are expected in relation to the two firearms that were seized from the residence on McDonald Ave. Police continue to investigate the Break and Enter.

Prohibited Driving

On January 5, 2023, police conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of 21st Street. The 34-year-old male driver was found to be prohibited from driving Canada wide. He was arrested for Prohibited Driving and is scheduled to appear in court in March 2023.

 

Domestic Assault

On January 5, 2023, police responded to a 911 call where a male and female could be heard yelling. Upon arrival, the female stated she had been assaulted by her partner. The male had left the residence prior, but later returned and was arrested for Domestic Assault. The 36-year-old male was intoxicated. As a result, he was lodged at the Brandon Police Service until sober.  e was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in March 2023. 

 

Breach of Peace

On January 5, 2023, police received a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 100 block of Madison Cres.  Upon arrival, police located an intoxicated 19-year-old male who was trying to fight with other residents in the house.  The male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service in order to prevent further issues.

On January 5, 2023, police received a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 100 block of Ashgrove Blvd.  Upon arrival, police located an intoxicated 25-year-old female who was using a knife to damage property.  The female was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service in order to prevent further issues.

 

Arrest Warrants

 

On January 5, 2023, police conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of Rosser Ave.  One of the occupants in the vehicle was a 56-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Theft Under $5,000 and Fail to Appear in Court.  He was arrested on the outstanding charges.  He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in February, 2023.

 

On January 5, 2023, police located and arrested a 43-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Domestic Assault and Fail to Comply with a Release Order.  The male was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today. 

 

On January 5, 2023, police located and arrested a 35-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Careless Use of a Firearm and Fail to Appear in Court.  He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in February 2023.
