Theft of Motor Vehicle
On the afternoon of 2023-03-15, police received a report that a vehicle was stolen from the 1300 block of 5th Street. The owner had witnessed the male suspect commit the theft and immediately notified police. Approximately 3 minutes after receiving the report, police located the vehicle near 6th Street and Mctavish Avenue, whereby a traffic stop was attempted. The vehicle failed to comply with the stop and officers disengaged the attempt to ensure public safety. The stolen vehicle was located by police in the 200 block of 2nd Street and discovered to be unoccupied. A police canine track was conducted and led to a residence in the 200 block of 1st Street.
Police investigation resulted in locating the male suspect that was identified as stealing the vehicle and fleeing from police. A 30-year-old male has been arrested and lodged at BPS to appear 2023-03-16 for the charges of Theft of Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, Failure to Comply with Undertaking X2, and Drive while Prohibited.
