Brandon Police Continue Investigation of Bear Mace Incident at Mall

Armed Robbery

On April 11, 2023, police responded to a report of a robbery at a business in the 1500 block of 18th Street. The suspect sprayed an employee with bear mace and fled with a new iPhone. Two other employees attempted to chase the suspect, but they too were sprayed. The mace contaminated a large area of the business, which was then closed to allow the substance to subside. No other individuals were sprayed directly, but many felt the effects of the spray and were attended to on scene by members of BFES.

The suspect is described as a male, approximately 6 feet, wearing a black ‘Kangol’ style hat turned backwards, a loose red hoodie/jacket with “Canada” across the chest, with baggie black pants and black loafers with a white sole.

Police continue to investigate.
