Brandon Police Warns Public of Text Message Scammers


TEXT MESSAGE SCAM

 

Brandon Police Service has received information about scammers posing as members of the police service and requesting confirmation that people will be attending court.

 

Please note the Brandon Police Service does NOT text people to confirm court dates.

 


 

Prohibited Driving

 

On January 7, 2023, at approximately 1:00 am, police conducted a traffic stop in the 3300 block of Victoria Ave.  The driver, a 29-year-old male, who was prohibited from driving was arrested.  He was later released to appear in court on March 6, 2023, on a charge of Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited.

 

Arrest Warrants

 

On January 6, 2022, a 28-year-old male who was wanted on an outstanding DNA Warrant attended to Brandon Police Service to turn himself in.  He was processed and released.

 

On January 7, 2023, police located and arrested a 45-year-old female who was wanted for arrest under the Family Maintenance Act.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.

 

On January 7, 2023, shortly after 3:00 am, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of 18th street.  A 22-year-old female occupant was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant and arrested.  She was later released to appear in court on March 6, 2022, on charges of Obstruct P.O. and Failing to Attend Court.

 

On January 7, 2023, at approximately 5:30 am, police responded to a report that a male had been sprayed with pepper spray at a residence.  When police arrived, only the victim was present, and he did not know who had sprayed him.  The 22-year-old male was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant. Following his arrest, he was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of failing to Comply with the Release Order.
