BPS Use DNA Evidence To Arrest Suspect Nearly 1 Year After B & E

Break Enter and Theft

On September 16th, 2021, police began investigating a break and enter to a residential property in the 1500’ block of 3rd Street.  At the time, the property was being renovated and numerous tools were stolen from within. Evidence seized from the scene was sent for DNA testing. 

 

A match was returned implicating a 35-year-old man who was presently in custody at Brandon Correctional Center was responsible for the crime. 

 

He was arrested and remains in custody to appear today on the new charge.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At 9:05am, a 34 year old female turned herself into the Brandon Police Service on a warrant for failing to attend.  She was given a court date of October 24th, 2022, to deal with the charge.

 

Mischief to Property

On September 12, a 19 year old man was arrested in relation to damage to a cement picnic table at a school in Brandon which occurred on September 10th.  This is the third suspect who was arrested for involvement with this incident.

 

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime / Trafficking Meth & Cocaine

On September 11, police received a report of a vehicle being entered sometime overnight and an xbox stolen from within.  On September 12, the stolen xbox was found advertised for sale on a social media platform.  The seller, a 28 year old female, was eventually located with the stolen xbox in her possession and was arrested.  A search of her incidental to arrest found she was also in possession of approximately 12 grams of meth and cocaine packaged for sale. She was later released for court on October 13, 2022.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At 9:00 pm, police observed a 37-year-old female in the 000’ block of 7th Street who was known to have a warrant for Break Enter and Theft.  She was taken into custody for court in the morning.

 

Mischief to Property / Utter Threats

At 9:31 pm, police attended to a residence in the 100’ block of 7th Street to locate a 31-year-old man who was being investigated for an incident that occurred on September 4th.  He was later released for court on November 14, 2022.

 

Fail to Comply with Release Order / Breach of Probation

At 2:35 am, police responded to a disturbance at a business in the 700’ block of 10th Street.  Police located a 28-year-old man who had smashed a pipe inside the store and stolen merchandise.  The suspect was also in breach of a court order by attending the business.  He was lodged to be released once sober with a court date of November 14th, 2022.
