Thousands of people are without power in Manitoba and more than a dozen highway sections are closed early Sunday morning as a massive weekend downpour. As of 1 p.m. Sunday, Manitoba Hydro reported 900 outages throughout the province affecting nearly 15,000 people in the province. Manitoba Hydro reminds residents to take caution near downed power lines. Keep everyone at least 10 metres (length of a school bus) away.
According to Environment Canada, a mixture of rain and snowfall continues in parts of the province. The precipitation is expected to taper off throughout Sunday. Southern Manitoba can expect a mix of sun and cloud Monday and Tuesday but temperatures will still be well below normal seasonal averages (12 - 15 degrees less). Expect highs of -2 Monday and 0 on Tuesday. But keep the rain gear and rubber boots handy because more rain is in the forecast for next weekend.
