Vehicle vs Pedestrian Collison
At approx. 12 noon on Friday, several 911 calls were received reporting a single vehicle had struck a youth at 18th St and College Ave. Officers responded to the area and located a 12 year old male who had been crossing in a crosswalk when he was hit by a southbound Jeep Compass.
The investigation has determined that another vehicle had stopped for the youth to cross, but the driver of the Jeep was in the other travel lane and did not take notice of the stopped vehicle or the pedestrian.
The 12-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries. The 36-year-old female driver was charged for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
